California marriage - Minnesota implications
Read about the Minnesota couple who tied the knot in California.
The legalization of same-sex marriages in California took effect on June 16th, 2008 and some Minnesota couples are heading west to tie the knot.
While this is a very exciting time in our movement, these marriages won’t be legally recognized in Minnesota due to a state law outlawing such unions, even if legally performed in another state.
However – if you go to California to marry, please let us know! We want to be able to track the exciting activity around this historic time and we’d love to hear your stories.
